The A-2 flight jacket is a brown leather bomber with roots in WWII. Pilots of the U.S. Army Air Forces wore this style in the 1930s and 1940s. The Type A-2 was an Army Air Corps jacket. It was made for U.S. Army Air Forces pilots, navigators and bombardiers in the 1930s and 1940s. High up in the air, the cockpits were cold and drafty, so the jacket had to block wind. It set the look with a front zipper, two front pockets, a collar tab and knit cuffs and waistband. After WWII, the bomber jacket moved into everyday fashion.
The shell is midweight leather that is drum-dyed in brown. Drum-dyeing lets the color soak deep into the hide. Inside, the jacket has a 100% cotton lining and 100% cotton padding for warmth. The pockets are lined in brown cotton. The cuffs and waistband are knit wool ribbing. The jacket is made to be waterproof, breathable and windproof, and it carries jacquard labels.
On the front there are two patch pockets with snap flaps. Inside there are two more pockets for small items. The jacket closes with a YKK zipper in an antique brass finish, and the snaps also have an antique brass look. The collar tab fastens with snaps and can be removed if you want a plainer collar. Epaulettes on the shoulders finish the classic A-2 look.
Yes. The jacket is offered for men and for women. Men can choose from EU 42 to EU 60, which is US 32 to US 50, or XS to XXL. Women can choose from EU 38 to EU 50, which is US 6 to US 18, or XXS to XL. Custom Size is also a choice. Check the size chart and leave a bit of room if you plan to wear a sweater under it.
Yes. You can pick No Lining, Regular Lining or Sublimated Lining. A sublimated lining has a printed design. You can also upload your own lining design, so the inside of your jacket shows a pattern or image you like. The standard jacket has a cotton lining with cotton padding, which keeps it warm on cool days and soft against your shirt.
