SFI is a non-profit organization established to issue and administer standers for the quality assurance of racing equipment. The driver suit specification 3.2A tests the garment’s fire retardant abilities. The specification contains a rating system that bases on the garment’s capability to provide Thermal Protective Performance (TPP) in the presence of both direct flame and radiant heat. The purpose of the TPP is to measure the length of time the person wearing the garment can be exposed to a heat source before incurring a second degree, or skin blistering, burn. SFI 3.2A/5 is 19 TPP Value and takes 10 seconds to 2nd Degree Burn.

High-Performance Auto Racing Shoes
-- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION --
What are High-Performance Auto Racing Shoes and how are they different from regular shoes?
High-Performance Auto Racing Shoes are made for driving. They have a thin, flexible sole to give you fast pedal feedback and a snug fit to keep your foot steady. The uppers use durable materials to resist heat and wear, and many models have reinforced toes for extra protection. They are lighter and closer to the pedal than regular shoes, which helps you control the gas and brake precisely.
How do I choose the right size for High-Performance Auto Racing Shoes?
To pick the right size for High-Performance Auto Racing Shoes, measure your foot length and width and compare to the size chart for the model you want. These shoes usually fit true to size, but some styles run narrow. If you are between sizes, choose the larger one for a secure fit that still lets you feel the pedals. Try them with your driving socks and check heel slip.
What materials are used in High-Performance Auto Racing Shoes and how do they help grip and safety?
High-Performance Auto Racing Shoes often use durable leather or synthetic uppers with suede or microfiber accents and a sticky rubber outsole. The toe area is reinforced to resist scuffs, and the sole is thin for pedal feel. Breathable linings keep feet comfortable. All these parts work together to give you solid grip, precise pedal control, and better foot safety.
Can I wear High-Performance Auto Racing Shoes for other activities?
Yes, you can wear High-Performance Auto Racing Shoes for karting, go-karting, or driving simulators. They give good pedal feel and grip in tight spaces. However, they are not built for long walks or rugged outdoor use, so save them for driving or track days to keep their fit and performance strong.
How do I care for and clean High-Performance Auto Racing Shoes to make them last?
Care for High-Performance Auto Racing Shoes by wiping them with a damp cloth after use. Do not machine wash unless the maker specifies. Let them air dry away from direct heat. If the uppers are leather, apply a light conditioner suitable for leather as needed. Keep the soles dry to preserve grip and store the shoes in a cool, dry place or a protective bag for longevity.
