A car coat is a coat cut for driving. This one copies the knee-length shape of a 1940s car coat. Back then, drivers of open-top cars needed a coat that kept out wind and cold. The coat is cut from heavyweight leather that is vegetable-tanned and drum-dyed in brown. Drum-dyeing means the hide soaks in dye in a turning drum, so the color goes deep into the leather. Inside, the coat has a 100% cotton lining and 100% cotton padding for warmth. The pockets are lined in brown cotton too. Jacquard labels are sewn in as a finishing detail.
The coat is made to be waterproof, breathable and windproof. The cuffs are windproof and close with a button, so cold air does not slip up your sleeves while you drive. The cotton padding adds a layer of warmth on cool days. On very cold days, you can wear a sweater under it, since the knee-length cut leaves room for layers.
On the outside there are two tailoring pockets. Inside you get two more pockets, which are handy for a wallet or car keys. All pocket bags are lined in brown cotton. The front closes with Corozo buttons. Corozo is a hard nut from a palm tree that is cut and polished into buttons. The cuffs also close with buttons to keep out the wind.
Men can pick from EU 42 to EU 60, which is US 32 to US 50, or XS to XXL. Women can pick from EU 38 to EU 50, which is US 6 to US 18, or XXS to XL. Custom Size is also a choice.
